PROVO, Utah — April 4, 2001 —Founded in 1910 by a young Swedish emigrant that saw the need for a first-rate non-profit hospital in the thriving port town of Seattle, Swedish Medical Center has long been known in the Pacific Northwest as the hallmark for excellence in health-care. As Swedish Medical Center has evolved over the years, it has continued to hold fast to its vision of being the best non-profit medical facility in the Pacific Northwest. With this vision in mind, it recently formed an alliance with Providence Seattle Medical Center, adding that health-care provider's campus and more than 1000 employees to the Swedish family. The joining of these two great institutions necessitated a monumental effort to integrate their diverse and complex information infrastructures.
