Solution Provider KIS Communications Finds Flexibility and Reliability in Novell's Net Services Software

PROVO, Utah — June 13, 2001 — Founded in 1995, Newport Beach, Calif.-based KIS Communications has established a rapidly growing business providing e-mail, security and Web-hosting solutions for customers like The Catalina Island Company, Catalina Conservancy, the State of California and Books on Tape. KIS has succeeded by developing a reputation as a focused Internet provider with a personal touch, offering customized solutions tailored to each client's needs. That personalized approach requires an extremely flexible and reliable technology infrastructure; so KIS Communications depends on Net services software from Novell.

"The flexibility of Novell's Net services software gives us a tremendous competitive advantage," said Chris Kirkwood, a principal with KIS Communications. "As a provider of e-mail and security solutions, products like NDS eDirectory and the Novell Internet Messaging System are extremely strategic for us, especially since they're not tied to a single operating platform. Both products have allowed us to leverage an existing infrastructure by running across NetWare, Linux and Solaris."

KIS Communications' IT solutions draw upon a number of Novell's Net services software products, including NetWare, eDirectory, NIMS, GroupWise, ZENworks and BorderManager. These products are critical to KIS Communications' ability to provide their customers cost-effective solutions to improve communication, streamline business processes, enhance security and create a profitable presence on the Web.

"While KIS offers a wide range of IT services, our specialty is providing a cost-effective solution to companies that need a 24x7 presence on the Web, so reliability and scalability are also critical needs," Kirkwood said. "And again, Novell has met and exceeded our demands. We never have to reboot our NetWare servers like we do with NT, and the scalability of the NetWare platform cannot be overlooked. A single NIMS or GroupWise server, for instance, can support orders of magnitude more users than an NT server running Sendmail or Exchange, given the same hardware. Novell software has always remained strong, stable and robust, a fact that many happy customers can attest to."
