PROVO, Utah June 22, 2001 When New York-based Exenet Technologies, Inc. launched a new business model as an Application Infrastructure Provider (AIP), company executives knew that directory services would be a lynchpin to their entire infrastructure, and their success. With that in mind, Exenet turned to Novell's NDS eDirectory and the Net services it supports to create a high-performance platform delivering customer offerings like application hosting, data storage and global directory services.
As an AIP, Exenet supports Application Service Providers with a
high-performance, reliable and secure integrated technology infrastructure
for the management of multiple hosted applications. "Most ASPs care about
their customers and services, but they don't have the resources in time or
capital to purchase and maintain all the routers, switches and bandwidth
they need. Most of them turn to someone like Exenet to provide their back
room," said Jorge Labruda, Vice President of Engineering Services. "Everyone has unique elements to differentiate their back room offering and ours is Novell, and, specifically, NDS eDirectory. Simply put, Novell has the directory in the Internet space."
eDirectory, together with Novell products such as NetWare, ZENworks and
Novell OnDemand Services, has given Exenet an infrastructure that is
flexible and fast enough to meet the needs of their diverse set of clients,
while at the same time incorporating a high level of security. Eventually
eDirectory will serve as the technological hub of Exenet's business,
integrating everything from application data to user profiles to billing
information.
"You can only afford to ride a couple horses," Labera said."We knew
directory services would be critical to our whole AIP infrastructure, so we picked the best one out there. Since then, we've chosen to partner heavily with Novell; we have trust and respect that Novell will get it done for Exenet."
