Novell Delivers eDirectory Redistribution Kit

PROVO, Utah — July 2, 2001 — Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today announced the availability of the NDS eDirectory Partner Redistribution Kit, which allows commercial application developers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to redistribute NDS eDirectory for free. The kit is the fulfillment of Novell's May 8 announcement to drive the adoption of directories on the Net by allowing partners to include the industry's most open, secure and scalable directory service as part of their eBusiness offerings to customers free of charge.

"With the ability to securely manage user identities across internal and external networks, directories will play a key role in the future of the Net," said Carl Ledbetter, chief technology officer and senior vice president, business and corporate development, Novell, Inc. "By providing eDirectory for free to developers and key partners, Novell is advancing directories as the basic underlying infrastructure of the Net. As the most open, robust and cross-platform directory service on the market, eDirectory is the only directory available today that can realistically play this role, providing an established platform for Net solutions."

Using the NDS eDirectory Redistribution Kit, partners have the opportunity to:

  • Redistribute eDirectory with their shipping products - giving their application customers a proven directory on which to build a scalable, secure eBusiness infrastructure.
  • Create marketable directory applications for end-to-end integration of supply chains, customer relationship management, order processing, logistics, employee communications and other processes.
  • Gain instant access to millions of potential customers who understand the strengths and overall superiority of the world's most deployed LDAP directory, eDirectory.
