09/25/2002 The Dell enterprise servers 1650, 2650, 4600, 6600, and 6650 passed the
SUSE certification test and were awarded with the label "Certified for
SUSE Linux", a guarantee that these servers operate and function properly
under the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 operating system.
Load tests in various areas constitute an important component of the
certification process. The extensive hardware tests, in combination with
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 (kernel 2.4.18), include:
- Repeated, extensive tests of CPU, RAM, bus system, and mass storage
media
- Extended operation of selected applications that make intensive use of
the CPU, memory, and graphics resources, both internally as well as via the
network
- Tests of the CPU, the memory transfer rate, and the mass storage media,
on reliability and stability in long-term operations under high load
conditions
- Repeated, comprehensive network service programs (upload, download, NFS)
with a high level of network traffic
The Dell PowerEdge servers 1650, 2650, 4600, 6600, and 6650 passed all
load tests with flying colors and were thus awarded the
label "Certified for SUSE Linux".
