12/05/2002 Financial Times editor Paul Taylor looked at SUSE's latest
Linux version for home users to answer the question, whether Linux is
ready for desktop prime time.
Commenting on the installation and configuration process with the SuSE
system assistent YaST2, Taylor wrote: "Not only did it correctly identify
all of the hardware in my PC and the printer attached to it but it also
detected the installed network card and configured it so I could begin
browsing the web immediately."
He was impressed with how far Linux vendors have come in making their
Linux software accessible to PC users. "The desktop that SUSE installs is
tidy and provides Windows-like access to all the main software
applications that come with the operating system," Taylor wrote.
