Novell's Director of Standards to Discuss Web Services Management at the XML Web Services One Conference

PROVO, Utah - March 3, 2003 — As the number of Web services deployed within and across enterprise boundaries increases, so too does the need to find an industry standard approach to effectively managing these services. Novell's Winston Bumpus, a leading industry expert on management issues, will address the need for Web services management standards on Tuesday, March 4 from 3-4 pm as part of the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) Forum on the Direction of Web Services held in conjunction with the XML Web Services One Conference.

The OASIS consortium is the source of a variety of Web services specifications and the OASIS Forum on the Direction of Web Services provides an opportunity to spend a day with the experts that participate in the development of these specifications. Mr. Bumpus will be participating in a panel discussion titled "Web Services & eBusiness," during which he will discuss the steps that OASIS and other industry groups are taking to address the need for Web Services Management standards.

Winston Bumpus is a distinguished expert with more than 30 years of experience in the computer industry. In addition to his role as director of open technologies and standards at Novell, he also serves as president of the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) and is also a chair of a number of OASIS technical committees. Mr. Bumpus co-authored the books "Common Information Model" and "The Foundations of Application Management."
