PROVO, Utah — May 21, 2003 — At the University of Oxford Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, which includes groups from the largest medical and cancer research councils in the United Kingdom, researchers and scientists work around the clock studying diseases and developing cures. Secure access to information from any location and the ability to share it with other academic and research staff is critical, and the Institute has found Novell NetWare 6.5 to be the right solution for access and sharing across its mix of Macintosh and Windows desktops.

The Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, which is a part of the University's Clinical School and employs more than 400 academic and research staff, saw immediate benefit from NetWare 6.5's full, built-in support for Mac OS X, without the time-consuming need for installing clients on each Macintosh workstation. The Institute also improved user accessibility to information with secure Web access to files, applications and e-mail at any time and from any location using the Virtual Office features in NetWare 6.5. Regardless of the platform, users experience seamless file and print capabilities that have improved staff productivity and significantly reduced administration time for a small IT team.

"We work with scientists who are very focused on their work and don't want to be troubled with technology disruptions," said Tom Anstey, computer manager at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford. "With NetWare 6.5, we can provide seamless file access, printing and communication across our Macintosh and Windows environment. This keeps all our users happy without them knowing or worrying about what goes on behind the scenes."
