PROVO, Utah Sept. 17, 2003 - Novell's corporate website, www.novell.com, was honored as the Best Computer Software website in the 2003 WebAward Competition. In addition, Novell's Cool Solutions website (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions), a subset of the corporate website which provides a forum for Novell customers to communicate directly with one another about how they're tapping Novell solutions to improve their business, also garnered an Outstanding Website Award.
"Novell is honored by this industry recognition," said Debra Bergevine, chief marketing officer of Novell. "As a company that sells solutions to help our customers get the right information to the right people at the right time, we need to showcase those solutions ourselves, and doing so through out website is absolutely critical. Using our own secure identity management and Web services technologies, we're able to provide a customized experience for the visitors to our Web site. This makes the site both easy to use and relevant. It becomes a very effective tool in the marketing mix for us."
The WebAward competition, produced by the Web Marketing Association and now in its 7th year, is the premier annual award competition that judges website development. Websites are rated on several key factors, including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, navigation, and ease of use. The goal of the WebAward Competition is to recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective websites on the Net today. "This award rightly honors the innovative work Novell's internal technical team and our Web design partners have been doing," said Kim Eaves, director for electronic marketing at Novell. "We'll continue to drive improvements to maintain Novell's website as a top-flight resource for our customers and partners."
