11/24/2003 — SUSE now offers SUSE Linux 9.0 (for Intel and AMD 32-bit processors and for AMD64) free of charge for direct download from the SUSE FTP server. The FTP version is the same as the retail version -- minus a few program packages excluded due to licensing restrictions. Installation support also is not included.

The SUSE Linux 9.0 FTP version is suitable for installation via ftp, nfs, or hard disk. It is not possible to generate installation CDs from a complete download. A mirror of the complete 9.0 FTP directory on your local network can also be used to install systems via NFS.

The path to the installation directory is
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.0/ (for Intel and AMD 32-bit processors)
