04/15/2003 — Porting of product range to Linux now completeDarmstadt, Germany, April 15, 2003 - All Software AG products are now certified for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8, and they have been released for IBM's S/390 mainframe platform. Software AG had made almost its entire product range available for SUSE Linux on the Intel platform by late 2002, and this process is now complete. Supporting SUSE underscores Software AG's commitment to the Linux community, as SUSE is the most widely distributed Linux version in Europe. The trend toward implementing mainframes as a multi-operating-system platform has been growing for some time. This simplifies system maintenance and helps keep the cost of running an IT landscape down. Software AG's products now provide enterprises with high-performance XML development tools and database solutions on Linux platforms as well. "The stability and high scalability of Linux is making it very important for mainframes," explains Dr. Peter Mossack, Software AG's member of the board responsible for research and development. "Linux already has an almost 20 percent share of new server operating-system installations. According to analyses by META Group, Linux will be installed on 45 percent of all new Intel servers by 2007.
