Calendar Publishing

A Calendar Publishing Host makes users' GroupWise personal calendar information publicly available to users across the Internet. Internet users can view calendars and free/busy information for GroupWise users who have published their calendars. The calendar browse list provides a list of published calendars to choose from.

Calendar Publishing Hosts List: Lists the Calendar Publishing Hosts that are defined in your GroupWise system. Click the name of a Calendar Publishing Host to edit its configuration.

New: Click New to define a new Calendar Publishing Host.

Delete: Select one or more Calendar Publishing Hosts, then click Delete to remove them from the list.

Enable Publishing of Calendars to the Browse List: Allows users to add their personal calendars to the calendar browse list.

You can override the system-level setting at the domain, post office, or user level.

New / Edit Calendar Publishing Host

A Calendar Publishing Host makes users' GroupWise personal calendar information publicly available to users across the Internet. Internet users can view calendars and free/busy information for GroupWise users who have published their calendars. The calendar browse list provides a list of published calendars to choose from.

Name: For a new Calendar Publishing Host, specify a unique and descriptive name by which you want the Calendar Publishing Host to be known in your GroupWise system. This name appears in the list of Calendar Publishing Hosts available in your GroupWise system. You cannot edit an existing name.

If you have already installed the Calendar Publishing Host software, specify the same name here that you provided during installation. If you have not yet installed the software, be sure that you specify the same name during software installation that you specify here in the Admin console. You must use matching Calendar Publishing Host names in the Admin console and in the Calendar Publishing Host Installation program.

URL: Specify the base URL for the Calendar Publishing Host. It must be in the following format:

http://network_address:port/gwcal

The network address can be either the IP address or DNS hostname of the Calendar Publishing Host server. The port must be specified only if the default port number (80) is not being used.

Calendaring applications expand on this base URL as follows:

  • URL for the Browse List of Published Calendars:

    http:network_address:port/gwcal/calendar

  • URL for the Calendar Publishing Host Admin Console:

    http:network_address:port/gwcal/admin

Description: (Optional) Provide additional helpful information about the Calendar Publishing Host.

Host Name: Specify either the IP address or the DNS hostname of the Calendar Publishing Host server. This information enables the POA to communicate with the Calendar Publishing Host.

If your network uses IPV6, you must specify the DNS hostname.

Port: Specify the TCP port number on which the Calendar Publishing Host communicates with the web server. The default is 80.

Use the default port number unless it is already in use on the server.
