Archive Needed
Indicates that the file has changed since the last time it was backed up. NetWare* sets this attribute when the file is modified, and removes it when the file is backed up.
Execute Only
Prevents the file from being copied or backed up. Only users with the Supervisor right can set this attribute. Once set, this attribute can't be removed, so users should have a backup copy of the file. Some program files won't execute properly with this attribute set.
Read Only
Prevents the file from being modified, renamed, or deleted. When this attribute is set or removed, the Rename Inhibit and Delete Inhibit attributes are set and removed automatically.
Sharable
Allows the file to be used by more than one user at a time. It is usually set only for files with the Read Only attribute.
Hidden
Hides the file from the DOS DIR command and prevents it from being deleted or copied. The NetWare DIR command will list the file if you have the File Scan right.
System
Reserves the file for operating system use and prevents it from being deleted, renamed, or copied.
Transactional
Indicates that the file is protected by the Transaction Tracking System* (TTS*), which allows interrupted operations to be backed out of the file, restoring it to an uncorrupted state. A file with this attribute can't be deleted or renamed. All database files that need TTS protection should be marked with this attribute.
Purge Immediate
Causes NetWare to purge the file when it is deleted.
Delete Inhibit
Prevents the file from being deleted, even if a user has the Erase right. This attribute is set and removed automatically when the Read Only attribute is set and removed.
Rename Inhibit
Prevents the file from being renamed, even if a user has the Modify right. This attribute is set and removed automatically when the Read Only attribute is set and removed.
Don't Migrate
Prevents the file from being migrated to a secondary storage device (such as a tape drive or optical disk) even when the threshold set by the server is reached.
Immediate Compress
Causes NetWare to compress the file as soon as possible, without waiting for a specific event to occur (such as a time delay).
Don't Compress
Prevents the file from being compressed even when the threshold set by the server is reached.
Don't Suballocate
Prevents the file from being stored in suballocated (unused) portions of disk blocks, even if suballocation is enabled for the system.
File Status
Indicates whether the file is currently compressed and/or migrated. Can't Compress means that no space savings would result from compressing the file. This status information is maintained automatically by NetWare; you can't modify it directly.
