The News Server provides full-text search across multiple discussion groups. This feature lets users easily monitor and track discussions on a wide variety of topics.
The News Server also provides a profiling feature that stores the results of a search in a virtual discussion group that is updated periodically. To users, the virtual discussion group looks like any other discussion group. To specify which discussion groups are indexed, refer to Indexing Discussion Groups.
To enable or disable searching and profiling options:
From the General Administration page, click the News Server server name button > Server Preferences > Search Options.
Enable or disable searching.
If you disable searching, some news readers might still be able to search headers within a discussion group.
Enable or disable profiling.
You must enable profiling before users can store search results in virtual discussion groups.
Click OK.
