Managing Software Packages

Software packages can be added, deleted, or updated by selecting one or more NNLS servers from an RCD group, or by manually specifying the host information for each server you want to update.

Managing Packages Using an RCD Group

  1. Click the Manage RCD Group task in the Resource Management role.

  2. Specify the path to the RCD Group object, then click Get Devices.

All servers in the RCD group appear under Device List.

  3. Select one or more servers to manage, then click OK.

The Packages page appears, containing all updates for the selected servers.

  4. Select the updates you want to apply, then click Update.

Managing Packages on Standalone Servers

NOTE:  Any information you provide when managing standalone severs is not saved and must be re-entered the next time you want to manage packages on these servers.

  1. Click the Manage Standalone RCDs task in the Resource Management role.

  2. Click Connect, specify all required information for the Red Carpet daemon running on the server you want to manage, then click OK.

  3. (Optional) Repeat Step 2 for any additional servers you want to manage at this time.

  4. Click OK.

The Packages page appears, containing all updates for the selected servers.

  5. Select the updates you want to apply, then click Update.

Individual servers can also be updated from the command line using the Red Carpet Daemon. For details on using the Red Carpet Daemon, see the Red Carpet 2.0 Software Manual on the Ximian support site, or enter man rug or man rcd at the command line.
