4.5 Shared-Access Rights Vs. Net Folder Roles

IMPORTANT:When users share files and folders, they also specify the rights that share recipients have to the shared items.

For the most part these rights mirror the Roles that user have on Net Folders. However, the is one critical difference—Contributor access rights let share recipients rename and even delete the folders that have been shared with them, as illustrated in Table 4-5.

  • Shared Folder: View, Rename, Delete, and Copy

  • Sub-Folders: View, Rename, Delete, Copy, and Move

  • Shared Files: View, Rename, Delete, Copy, Move, Read, and Write

Net Folders

  • Net Folder sharing only applies to files, not folders, so Contributor rights don’t apply.
