IMPORTANT:Upgrading directly from 4.8.0 to 4.9 is not supported.
If your server is running Retain 4.8, you must apply the 4.8.0.1 update patch before upgrading to Retain 4.9. For more information, see the 4.8.0.1 Release Notes.
Use the instructions in the following sections to upgrade from Retain 4.8.0.1 to 4.9.
Performing a successful upgrade requires that you
Are Running Retain 4.8.0.1 or later: To upgrade your system to Retain 4.9, it must be running Retain 4.8.1 or later with all applicable patches applied.
Provide Owner Rights to the SQL Database: Retain must have database owner rights to the SQL database it is connected to in order to update the schema and so on.
Allow Adequate Time: When updating very large (~ 1 TB) databases, the upgrade might take up to two hours to complete.
Back Up the System:
Just prior to starting the upgrade, back up the Retain System. See
Backing Up Retain.
Ensure Adequate Disk Space: Temporary files for updating the index can consume up to double the index’s current disk space during the upgrade.
Download Retain 4.9: Download the latest version of Retain.
Run the installer for your platform.
When the previous installation is found, choose to upgrade and keep the current configuration.
Follow the prompts.
