product evaluation

ZENworks Application Virtualization (also known as the "application packager") can be used for a 60-day evaluation period before you need to either discontinue using it or purchase it. The interface clearly indicates when the product is running in evaluation (unlicensed) mode.

To evaluate the additional streaming capabilities of ZENworks Application Virtualization 8.0, you must request a public key/private key pair on the Product Overview page. This is a link to your Novell Customer Center account, where you can log in and retrieve the evaluation key pair. This key pair is used to validate that the application being streamed was created by you. To evaluate streaming, use the evaluation private key to generate streaming configurations. Distribute the public key to the devices that will execute the streaming key as described in the ZENworks Application Virtualization Integration and Streaming Guide. The key pair lets you create streaming applications for a 60-day evaluation period. When this period ends, applications expire and can no longer be launched or streamed.

product purchase and licensing

When you purchase the product, Novell or a Novell reseller sends you a link to a license file for the application packager and a new key pair for streaming.

If you have not already done so, install the application packager . Download the license from your Novell Customer Center account to an accessible location, then follow these steps:

  1. On the Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization control panel, click Option > Install License Certificate to open the License Certificate dialog box.
  2. In the License Certificate dialog box, paste the contents of your downloaded license file, then click OK.

If you have not already done so, install the streaming tools. Download the new key pair from your Novell Customer Center account to help you enable streaming functionality.

If you have previously been evaluating the streaming capabilities of the product, you need to remove any existing evaluation restrictions on the applications you have been streaming. Use the following steps to move your application streaming out of evaluation status:

  1. Using the licensed applications packager, rebuild the applications you have been streaming.
  2. Using the new private key, generate new streaming configuration files.
  3. Distribute the new public key to each of the devices where you want to stream applications.
  4. Discard the original evaluation key pair.
