9.0 Managing Bundle Assignments

Novell ZENworks 11 lets you assign bundles to users as well as devices. Device-assigned bundles are available whenever the device is running and connected to the network; user-assigned bundles are available only when the user is logged in to the Management Zone. For example, if you assign a bundle to a user, the bundle is available only after the user logs in.Unlike devices, users are not defined in your Management Zone. Instead, you connect to the LDAP directory that you want to use as your authoritative user source. If necessary, you can connect to multiple directories. For more information on the user source, see .

NOTE:Bundles can have a priority configured to determine the bundle assignment that is effective for a device or a user. Bundles can be assigned to a user or a device through direct association or through inheritance.

A bundle can be assigned to a user or a device, a user or device group, or a user or device folder. Each of these assignments also supports scheduling, so you can set a schedule for the deployment of a bundle. If you have different schedules configured for users, devices, or their groups and folder assignments, the priority of the schedules is as follows:

  1. Bundles assigned through direct association (device or user)

  2. Bundles assigned through a group (device group or user group)

  3. Bundles assigned through a folder (device folder or user folder).

You can manage a bundle assignment from the bundle’s Relationships page (Click the bundle and then the Relationship tab). The Relationships page is not affected by the bundle change management capability.
