How the ziswin.exe imaging component works has been changed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management. This means that images created and laid down on workstations using previous versions of ZENworks Desktop Imaging contain the older version of ziswin.exe within their images.
When using ZENworks 7 Desktop Imaging to re-image these workstations, the image-safe data for the workstations is cleared if ziswin.exe is run in the Service Mode, which contains a Restoration Submode that automatically does the image-safe data removal.
To preserve the image-safe data on your imaged workstations, in the images on each applicable workstation, you must replace the older version of ziswin.exe with the version from ZENworks 7. There are two ways to do this:

Create an add-on image containing the new ziswin.exe from ZENworks 7.
The newer version of ziswin.exe is located in the sys:public\zenworks\imaging directory on your Imaging server.
The older version of ziswin.exe to be replaced is located at:

Associate the add-on image with the base image that contains the older version of ziswin.exe.

Apply the add-on image to the workstation.

This causes the older ziswin.exe to be replaced with the newer ZENworks 7 version, which preserves the image-safe data for the workstation.
From this point on, the workstation's image can be used to re-image other workstations without losing their image-safe data.
Open Image Explorer (in the sys:\public\zenworks\imaging directory of your Imaging server.

In ConsoleOne, click > > > ).
Use Image Explorer to replace the older ziswin.exe with the version from ZENworks 7.
The newer version of ziswin.exe is located in the sys:public\zenworks\imaging directory on your Imaging server.
