Meeting Policy and Distribution Services Requirements for Linux or Solaris

The Linux or Solaris server where you install Policy and Distribution Services must meet the following minimum system requirements:

¹ To enable a successful installation for Red Hat 7.3, after installing type the following at prompt/shell:

In -s /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 /usr/lib/libstds++-libc6.1-1.so.2

This will create a symbolic link to the current stdlibc++.

IMPORTANT: The hostname of the Linux or Solaris server where you install Policy and Distribution Services must be the same as its DNS short name.

Beyond the Linux or Solaris server where you are installing Policy and Distribution Services, the following requirements must be met somewhere in your network:

Novell eDirectory 8.0 or above must be running on at least one server (Linux, Solaris, NetWare, or Windows) in your network.

ConsoleOne^® 1.3.5 must be available at a Windows workstation that meets the requirements listed in ConsoleOne Workstation Requirements.

At least one NetWare or Windows server is required in your network to support the Policy/Distribution database. The Policy/Distribution database currently cannot be created on a Linux or Solaris server.
The Policy/Distribution database stores log messages detailing the successes and failures of Distribution processing for reporting purposes. The server where it resides must meet the system requirements listed in Policy and Distribution Services Minimum Requirements for Windows Servers.
