Before you can use the VM Management interface, you need to make sure that your VM host machines and your VM Builder machines are recognized. You need to make sure your main physical resources are registered. These actions must be taken after you have installed and configured the Orchestrator Server and its components
Once you have configured and set up your Orchestrator Server:
Open a command terminal.
Change to the /opt/novell/zenworks/zos/server/bin/ directory and enter the following command:
./zoc
When the Orchestrator Console opens, click on your grid in the tree view.
Enter your administrator username and password.
Click on the
button.Click the mailbox on the top of the screen.
Select
to register the physical resources available or selectClick
.After your physical resources are registered, you can begin to build and discover the VM hosts and VMs in your data center, which is the process that brings the VMs into the control of the Orchestrator Server and allows you to install the Orchestrator Agent on any VMs that are already installed on your system. After the VM host machines have been discovered, you can also begin the process of creating VMs. For information on creating VMs, see Section 4.2, Building a Virtual Machine and for information on discovering VMs, see Section 4.3, Discovering Virtual Machines.
The VNC password was set when you ran the configuration script. This job opens up the VNC port on the VM host machines that are part of the VM Builder group in the Orchestrator Server. This sets the previously specified password. You can open a VNC session to the VM Management interface or any other VNC client when this job is running. The job is shipped in a paused state. To resume the VNC job, click the Scheduler button, click on
(the paused job), and click .If your physical machine is going to be part of the group of Xen hypervisor-enabled machines you want to use as VM Builder agent machines, you might want to increase the number of joblet slots that particular physical machine has. To do so, click the physical resource in the tree. When its information is displayed in the right pane, change the
field from 1 to a higher value depending on the capacity of the machine. This allows you to run multiple joblets on the machine, or build more than one VM at a time. You can also make this change on non-VM Builder servers, but two or three slots is the recommended number of joblet slots for any machine.
