Notes Server Directory Structure for Lotus Notes 4.x

When you run the Notes Gateway, it accesses some standard Lotus Notes 4.x files. It also creates and updates some files in the Notes system.

lotus directory

The lotus directory on the Notes server is the root directory for a Lotus Notes 4.x system.


notes directory

The notes directory contains subdirectories and files pertaining to the Lotus Notes 4.x server.


notes.ini file

The notes.ini file is the Notes server initialization file used by Lotus Notes 4.x. You must manually update the notes.ini file to add the Notes version of the GroupWise Address Book. See Adding the GroupWise Address Book to Notes.


data directory

The data directory contains files used by the Notes server.


names.nsf file

The names.nsf file is the Notes public Address Book.


wpnames.nsf file

The wpnames.nsf file is the Notes version of the GroupWise Address Book that is accessed by Notes users when sending messages to GroupWise users.


notesgateway.nsf file

The notesgateway.nsf mail file is the Notes mailbox that belongs to the Notes Gateway foreign domain. It is used for communication between the Notes system and the GroupWise system. See Defining the GroupWise System As a Notes Foreign Domain.
