Non-ITU-T X.25-Specific Parameters

This section covers the NetWare Link/X.25 parameters that are not specified by ITU-T and are specific to the Novell Internet Access Server 4.1 routing software. For information on specific parameters, refer to:

Maximum Physical Receive Packet Size

The Maximum Physical Receive Packet Size is a parameter that you can set in the STARTUP.NCF file. This parameter determines the maximum size of the packet that can be transmitted or received. It can be configured using the SERVMAN utility in NetWare 4.11.

User Data Size

The User Data Size can be set as a maximum size, in bytes, for the size of the data you expect to transmit and receive on the interface. You can set the user data size to be unlimited.

Port Connections

The physical connection between the local DTE and the DCE or the remote DTE can be specified in the Port Connections setting. Options for port connections include DTR-dialed and hard-wired.

Interface Queue Limit

You can specify the maximum number of user messages that can be queued to each port on the board. The range is from 0 (unlimited) to 1,024 messages. The message will be discarded when the number of messages in the queue reaches the queue limit.

Authentication Options

You can specify whether incoming calls are subject to authentication based on a list of specific DTE addresses. This list is called an authentication database. When you set it up, you include the name, remote system ID, and remote DTE address for each valid partner DTE that can communicate with an interface. Only the DTEs listed in the database are allowed to communicate with the selected interface.

Call Types

NetWare Link/X.25 calls can be one of two types:

For a permanent call type, you must also specify the following parameters:

For an on-demand call type, you must also specify the idle-line timeout value. This indicates how long a virtual circuit is inactive before the connection is closed.
