6.0 Setting Up a Branch Server

The Branch Server provides the network boot and system management infrastructure for the NovellĀ® Linux Point of Service terminals as well as a generic system platform for in-store applications, such as database systems and back ends for the Point of Service applications.

This section reviews the procedures required to set up a standard Branch Server:

If you are setting up a high-availability Branch Server, follow the instructions in Section 7.0, Setting Up High Availability Branch Servers.

If you are setting up an Admin/Branch Server combination, follow the instructions in Section 8.0, Setting Up an Admin/Branch Server Combo.

If you are setting up a POS Branch Terminal, follow the instructions in Section 9.0, Setting Up a POSBranch Terminal.
