7.19 Using Version Control with Attached Files

When you modify a file in Novell Teaming, Teaming saves the previous version of the file, and makes it available for easy reference. This includes files that are stored in Teaming File folders, or any files that are saved as attachments.

7.19.1 Creating a New Version of a File

Teaming enables you to create a new version of a file in the following ways:

Editing the File to Create a New Version

You can simply edit the existing file to create a new version of a file, as described in Section 7.18.2, Editing Attached Files.

Dragging and Dropping an Updated File to Create a New Version

You can simply drag and drop an updated version of a file into the drag-and-drop window to create a new version of a file.

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to import the new version of the file.

  2. Click Add Files to Folder in the Folder Entry toolbar.

    The drag-and-drop window opens.

  3. Drag a file from one location, such as your desktop, and drop it onto the folder icon in the drag-and-drop window.

In order to create a new version of an existing file in the folder, the file that you upload must have the same name as the existing file for which you want to create a new version.

The document is added as a new version of the existing file entry. Older versions are displayed in the Previous Versions section of the entry.

7.19.2 Accessing a Previously Saved Version of a File

  1. Navigate to and select a saved file for which you want to access a previous version.

  2. In the Attachments section of the entry, click Previous Versions.

All of the previously saved versions of the file are listed in reverse-chronological order. Teaming displays the date, file size, and the person who modified the file.

  3. Click the version of the file that you want to view.
