7.18 Viewing and Editing Attached Files

Novell Teaming enables you to easily view and edit files that are attached to entries.

7.18.1 Viewing Attached Files

  1. Navigate to and open the entry that contains the attached file that you want to view.

  2. In the Attachments section, click VIEW next to the file that you want to view.

7.18.2 Editing Attached Files

  1. Navigate to and open the entry that contains the attached file that you want to modify.

  2. In the Attachments section, click Edit next to the file that you want to view.

The file is launched in the file editor that you specified. For information on how to change the editor that Teaming uses to edit files, see Section B.10, Unable to Edit Files that Are Attached to Entries.

  3. (Conditional) If Teaming prompts you to provide your Teaming credentials, specify the username and password that you use to log in to Teaming, then click OK.

You can now edit the file.

  4. After you have edited the file, save your changes, then exit the editing application.

Teaming creates a version of the file as it was before you modified it. When you exit and reopen the entry, you can view the older version of the file, as described in Section 7.19.2, Accessing a Previously Saved Version of a File.

IMPORTANT:When you edit an attached document using OpenOffice, each time you click Save Teaming creates a new version of the document. Because each version of a document counts against your data quota (for more information on data quota, see Managing Your Data Quota in the Novell Teaming 2.1 Advanced User Guide), it is recommended that when using OpenOffice as an editor you save the document only once, when closing the document.

When using Microsoft Office, Teaming creates only one new version each time you edit the document. Clicking Save multiple times does not create multiple versions, as is the case when editing documents with OpenOffice.
