D.5.1 Frequently Asked Questions about Activation

Do I need to Install Identity Manager on a specific server?

Yes. As a Bundle Edition user, you must install Identity Manager on the server where you installed eDirectory. In order for activation to work properly, you must apply the ZENworks license key to that server.

What version of Identity Manager Bundle Edition can I activate?

With your ZENworks purchase, your activation credential allows you to use the Bundle Edition that shipped with ZENworks 7 (Identity Manager Bundle Edition 2.0.1) or the newer edition that ships with ZENworks 7 SP1 (Identity Manager Bundle Edition 3.0.) The activation credential you receive from the Web site activates both editions.

Can I run Identity Manager on a Solaris or AIX Server?

Not with the Bundle Edition. However, you can still synchronize data held on a these platforms by using the Identity Manager Remote Loader service. The Remote Loader enables synchronization between the Metadirectory Engine and a remote driver (on the Solaris or AIX server.) See Setting Up Remote Loaders for more information.

In order to run Identity Manager on Solaris or AIX, you need to purchase Novell Identity Manager 3.

I purchased an additional Integration Module. Why doesn't it work?

With your ZENworks purchase, you are entitled to use the Bundle Edition products. If you want to add new Integration Modules, you also need to purchase Novell Identity Manager 3. The Integration Module cannot activate until you purchase Novell Identity Manager 3.

If I purchase a license for Novell Identity Manager and a license for an additional Integration Module, do I need to re-install the software?

No, you just need to install the activation credentials associated with your purchase. See Step 8.

How do I know what's activated?
