Installing the Policy and Distribution Services Plug-In to iManager

At a workstation that meets the requirements listed in Installation Workstation Requirements :

  1. Map a drive to the server where Tomcat is installed.

HINT:  On a Windows server, you can perform the installation locally, so that a drive mapping is not needed.

  2. Insert the ZENworks for Servers 3 program CD.

The initial Installation Wizard window appears. If it does not display automatically after inserting the CD, you can start it by running WINSETUP.EXE at the root of the CD.

IMPORTANT:  If you copied the ZENworks for Servers 3 program CD structure to the installation workstation's hard drive, the path between the root of the hard drive and the first CD directory can contain only directory names that conform to the 8.3-character DOS file naming convention. If any long directory names exist in the path, the installation program will not work.

  3. Click New Installation > Web Components.

  4. Accept the License Agreement > click Next.

Both Web components are selected by default. Optionally, you can deselect the ZENworks® Certificate Signer; installing it is not part of your current task. For information about the ZENworks Certificate Signer, see Security in Policy and Distribution Services in Policy and Distribution Services in the Administration guide.

  5. Browse to and select the path to the Tomcat installation directory.

On NetWare® 6, the typical location is SYS:\TOMCAT\33.

On Windows, the typical location is C:\Program Files\jakarta-tomcat-3.3a.

  6. Click Open.

  7. Click Next.

The installation summary indicates that the selected Web components will be installed to the Tomcat installation directory.

  8. Click Finish.

A progress bar displays as the files are installed.

  9. Click Yes to view the installation log file.

If the log file contains errors, you can print it for reference. To look up error messages, see Installation Error Messages . Correct the error, then repeat the installation successfully.

  10. Close the log file > exit the Installation Wizard.

  11. Stop Tomcat > start Tomcat.

  12. Continue with Setting Up Role-Based Services for TED Administrators .
