Creating an Object Container for Distributor and Subscriber Objects

IMPORTANT:  If you have already installed Policy and Distribution Services on NetWare or Windows servers, the eDirectory tree already includes a container for Distributor and Subscriber objects. Skip to Installing Policy and Distribution Services on a UNIX Server .

If your first Policy and Distribution Services installation is on a UNIX server and you do not want to use an existing container for TED objects, you must create a new container object where you want the installation script to create Distributor and Subscriber objects. For example, you could create a ZfS container with a TED container for Distributor and Subscriber objects.

  1. In ConsoleOne, select the eDirectory tree where you want to create Distributor and Subscriber objects.

  2. Right-click the context where you want to create a ZfS object container > click New > Object > Organizational Unit.

  3. Specify a container name, such as ZfS > click OK.

IMPORTANT:  Do not use double-byte or extended characters in container names.

  4. Right-click the new ZfS container > click New > Object > Organizational Unit.

  5. Specify a container name, such as TED > click OK.

  6. Continue with Extending the eDirectory Schema for Distributor and Subscriber Objects .
