What's New in ZfS 3 Support Pack 1

ZfS 3 Support Pack 1 (SP1) provides a few new features and some bug fixes.

For information on the resolved issues for all ZfS 3 components, see the SP1 Readme.

New features are implemented when installing SP1 for the following ZfS components:

• Policy and Distribution Services
• Server Inventory
• Remote Management

Policy and Distribution Services

SP1 provides the following new features for Policy and Distribution Services:

• Ability to create Desktop Application Distributions in Novell iManager: You can now create Desktop Application types of Distributions in iManager.

• Interoperability Between TED and ZfD 4: Desktop Application type Distributions created in ZfS 3 SP1 will work with ZfD 4.

• Ability to Revoke an Individual Policy: You can now revoke an individual policy using an option in iManager.

• Support for Distributions Greater than 4 GB: NW 6 SP2 contains the JVM update that provides support for 64-bit I/O, which allows SP1 to provide support for Distributions greater than 4 GB on NetWare 6 servers.

• Encryption Support Added for the Linux and Solaris Platforms: The new NICI (version 2.4) included in SP1 provides encryption capability for the Solaris and Linux platforms.

• No Distribution Object Limit To the Number of Files/Folders: The previous limit of approximately 240 files/folders selected for a Distribution has been removed in SP1.

Server Inventory

SP1 provides the following new features for Server Inventory:

• Support for interoperability between ZfS 3 Server Inventory and ZfD 4 Workstation Inventory.

• Enhanced Inventory Reports with new lists and reports that cover all the inventory information. Also, you can now create and add reports to the Inventory ConsoleOne.

• The Inventory server now looks for platform-specific policies first and then the general policies.

  You can now configure the Database Location and the Roll-up policies in the NetWare tab for Inventory servers running on NetWare servers and in the Windows tab for Windows servers.

  If an Inventory server does not find a policy for the operating system it is running on, it will look for policies configured under the General tab.

• The Server Removal Service has been replaced with the Inventory Removal Service that provides enhanced features.

• Two new Query operators: NULL and NOT SATISFYING.

  Use the NULL operator to query for those inventoried servers whose particular attribute is not scanned but the component has been scanned and some attributes are populated. Use the NOT SATISFYING query (or the NOT SATISFYING filter condition) to find filter conditions for the inventoried servers that negate the given query.

Remote Management

SP1 provides the following new features for Remote Management:

• You can now scan and render the entire information of the screen of the remotely managed server using the Full Screen Polling feature.
• RestartViewer will now be functional instead of the RestartSession.
