Great news: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is the winner in the Software
Stack/Distribution category of the first Excellence in Clustering
Technology awards at ClusterWorld Conference & Expo, held at San
Jose, California.
The Excellence in Clustering Technology awards program, presented in
conjunction with Linux Clusters Institute, is the first industry effort to
recognize the many breakthroughs in clustering technology that have
reshaped the IT landscape in recent years. The awards represent major
areas of innovation in the clustering market for GRID, HPC and HA
computing.
"The Excellence in Cluster Technology awards are the new industry standard
for innovation in clustered systems," said Adam Goodman, CEO of
QuarterPower Media, publisher of Linux Magazine and producer of
ClusterWorld Conference & Expo. "These products and companies represent
the very best solutions available to customers who require clustered
systems. The developers should be applauded for their accomplishments."
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 provides performance and high
availability
After the recent success of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server at Oracle
Application Standard Benchmark (OASB), achieving the highest
performance results in a HP server cluster configuration and the highest
Linux results in a single-server configuration with an IBM xSeries server,
the latest award once more proofs the high performance incorporated in
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 combines
maximum reliability and performance with an unprecedented scalability
across all significant hardware borders. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is
also certified and validated for central enterprise applications such as
mySAP.com and IBM DB2.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server's optimized kernel 2.4.19 enables high
availability solutions and the high-performance interaction with storage
systems in the SAN by means of asynchronous I/O, multipathing memory
access, and the management of up to 600 physical hard disks. Load
balancing and the O(1) scheduler are responsible for the optimum balancing
of the computing capacity in the network.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 is the only server system worldwide that
boasts a uniform code basis for all significant hardware platforms. In
addition to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 for Intel and AMD 32-bit and
64-bit processors, Enterprise Server 8 is also available for HP ProLiant
servers, HP Itanium 2-based servers, Fujitsu Siemens Primergy servers and
the entire IBM eServer series (xSeries, iSeries, pSeries, zSeries) - This
makes the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server the perfect platform for
consolidating heterogeneous server structures and significantly reduces
system administration costs.
