The following sections briefly explain the purpose of each migration tool/utility included in OES 2 SP1:
The OES 2 SP1 Migration Tool lets you migrate and/or consolidate data and services from one or more NetWare, OES 1, or OES 2 source servers to an OES 2 SP1 Linux target server. The source servers must each be running the same platform. Cross-platform consolidations are not directly supported, but can be facilitated as explained in Cross-Platform Data Consolidations
in the OES 2 SP2: Migration Tool Administration Guide.
You can also transfer a complete server identity, including its IP address, hostname, eDirectory identity, NICI keys, and certificates. For more information, see Transfer ID
in the OES 2 SP2: Migration Tool Administration Guide.
To help you migrate data from Windows NT*, 2000, or 2003 servers to OES 2 SP1 Linux, OES 2 SP1 includes the Migrate Windows Shares utility.

The primary purposes of the Novell® NetWare® Migration Wizard are
To migrate NetWare servers to OES 2 SP1 NetWare (6.5 SP8) and/or to new hardware.
To facilitate migrations from older versions of NetWare to NetWare 5.1 SP8, in preparation for migrating to OES 2 SP1 Linux.
After migrating to NetWare 5.1 SP8, servers can then be migrated using the OES 2 SP1 Migration Tool.
When the migration is complete, the new NetWare server replaces and assumes the identity of the old NetWare server on the network.
The supported migration paths to OES 2 SP1 NetWare (6.5 SP8) are listed in NetWare Migration Wizard
in the Novell Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit Administration Guide.
The primary purpose of the Server Consolidation Utility is to migrate and consolidate:
Users
File permissions
Passwords
File Systems
from existing NetWare servers to OES 2 NetWare (6.5 SP8) servers.
NOTE:If you are moving a NetWare server to new hardware, use the NetWare Migration Wizard instead.
The Server Consolidation Utility can also be used to
Migrate NetWare servers to OES 2 SP1 Linux. However, the primary tool for this purpose is the OES 2 SP1 Migration Tool.
Migrate and consolidate some Windows servers. However, certain restrictions apply as explained in Server Consolidation Utility
in the Novell Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit Administration Guide. The primary tool for migrating Windows shares to OES 2 SP1 Linux is the Migrate Windows Shares Utility.
