To install and use Novell PlateSpin Recon 3.7.1, it is mandatory to perform all the following tasks in the order listed below:
There has been a change in the way PlateSpin Recon collects data for Windows machine. The new method enables you to gather additional disk utilization data. PlateSpin Recon 3.7.1 HotFix 1 includes an agent that is pushed to the target servers. This agent extends the native performance monitoring capabilities to enable you to gather disk utilization data by using the perfmon interface. This agent requires a restart of the remote registry service when monitoring is started or stopped on the target servers. The agent is deleted after monitoring is stopped. Although we have taken utmost care to ensure that these changes do not impact any other functionality of the system, you might encounter some issues because of the diverse set of applications residing in a data center. If you encounter any issues, contact Novell Support.
If you do not want the disk utilization data to be collected or do not want the agent to be pushed to the target servers, apply PlateSpin Recon 3.7.1 HF1 Patch after installing PlateSpin Recon 3.7.1 HotFix 1 to complete the deployment of PlateSpin Recon 3.7.1. This patch ensures that no agent is pushed to the target server and there by you do not get the disk utilization data. The patch contains PlateSpin.Monitoring.WindowsMonitoring.dll that you must copy to the %windir%\PlateSpin Recon 3.7 Server\services\Monitoring directory on the PlateSpin Recon Server before performing any PlateSpin Recon operation.
