Setting Up eDirectory

The eDirectory system differs from the other systems installed in the lab in that it requires a DirXML driver on both the Workforce Tree that holds the Nsure Resources repository and on the corporate tree that holds your corporate hierarchy. In effect, you must install DirXML on both trees. The DirXML installation on the Workforce Tree was covered in Setting up DirXML on a Windows NT/2000 Server . This section covers the DirXML installation for the corporate tree.

To prepare the corporate eDirectory tree for provisioning, complete the following sections:

Prerequisites

This section covers a lab implementation using eDirectory running on Windows. The information for setting up the DirXML driver for eDirectory on other platforms is available on the DirXML Drivers Documentation Web site.

The server where eDirectory is installed should have the following software installed:

Collecting Configuration Information

You'll need to provide system-specific details when you install and configure Novell Nsure Resources for eDirectory.

Print and complete the Import Driver Form for eDirectory, which mirrors the actual form you will fill out in iManager, or gather and record the following information for later use.

Installing DirXML and the DirXML eDirectory Driver

  1. At the server hosting your account tree, insert the Novell Nsure Resources CD.

  2. At the Welcome page, click Next.

  3. Read the License Agreement, then click I Accept.

  4. Select DirXML Engine and Drivers, then click Next.

  5. Mark the following items, then click Next.

  6. In the Schema Extension dialog box, enter the following information and click Next.

  7. Review the Summary screen, click Finish, then click Close.

Configuring the Driver

Use the Create Driver task in iManager to configure the driver. Because this is the first time you will have authenticated to the eDirectory account tree through iManager, you'll also have to configure iManager roles and tasks.

To configure the driver:

  1. Launch iManager on the computer where you installed the driver. Enter

    http://Web_Server_IP_Address/eMFrame/

  2. At the authentication screen, connect to the eDirectory account tree.

IMPORTANT:  Use the IP address for the tree name.

  3. At the Collection Information page, select a container at a level below which you want users to be able to use eGuide self provisioning, then click Next.

  4. Select the modules in the Modules to be Installed list.

  5. Specify the account tree as the Scope.

  6. Ensure that Inheritable is marked.

  7. Click Start to install and update iManager files.

This installation may take a few minutes.

  8. When the update is finished, click Close.

  9. Click DirXML Management > Create Driver.

  10. Mark In a New Driver Set, then click Next.

  11. Provide a name, context, and server for the driver set. Leave Create a New Partition on the Driver Set marked, then click Next.

  12. Mark Import a Preconfigured Driver for the Server, select EP-EDir-Account.xml, then click Next.

  13. Provide driver configuration information at the prompts, then click Next. You'll be prompted for following information:

  14. Click Define Security Equivalence, add Admin, then click OK.

  15. Click Exclude Administrative Roles, add Admin, click OK, then click Next.

  16. Review the driver summary, then click Finish.

  17. Complete preparation of other participating systems and then proceed to Configuring DirXML Drivers .
