B.1 Domino Server Directory Structure

When you run the Notes Gateway, it accesses some standard Lotus Notes files. It also creates and updates some files in the Notes system.

  • Line SpacerLotus Notes root directory
  • Line SpacerDirectory for Domino server files
  • Line SpacerDomino server initialization file
  • Line SpacerData directory for the Domino server
  • Line SpacerNotes public Address Book
  • Line SpacerNotes version of the GroupWise® Address Book
  • Line SpacerNotes mail file (mailbox) for the Notes Gateway foreign domain

B.1.1 lotus directory

The lotus directory on the Domino server is the root directory for a Lotus Notes system.

B.1.2 domino directory

The domino directory contains subdirectories and files pertaining to the Domino server.

notes.ini file

The notes.ini file is the Domino server initialization file used by Lotus Notes. You must manually update the notes.ini file to add the Notes version of the GroupWise Address Book to the Notes system, as described in Section 4.2, Adding the GroupWise Address Book to Notes.

data directory

The data subdirectory contains files used by the Domino server.

names.nsf file

The names.nsf file is the Notes public Address Book.

wpnames.nsf file

The wpnames.nsf file is the Notes version of the GroupWise Address Book that is accessed by Notes users when sending messages to GroupWise users.

notesgateway.nsf file

The notesgateway.nsfmail file is the Notes mailbox that belongs to the Notes Gateway foreign domain. It is used for communication between the Notes system and the GroupWise system. See Section 4.3, Defining the GroupWise System As a Notes Foreign Domain.
