Customizing Your Settings

You can change the way NLD looks and behaves to suit your own personal tastes and needs. Some of the settings you might want to change include the desktop background, screensaver, keyboard and mouse configuration, sounds, and file associations. Start by clicking System > Personal Settings. Then select the desktop settings you want to modify. The Settings dialog is divided into the following four categories:

To edit administrator settings (System > Administrator Settings), you use the YaST Control Center. The administrator settings includes most of the hardware, the graphical user interface, Internet access, security settings, user administration, software installation, and system updates and information. You will need the root password to access the YaST Control Center.

For information on configuring administrator settings, see "Using YaST to Configure the Novell Linux Desktop" in the Novell Linux Desktop Deployment Guide.
