SMC panels   

The SMC is divided into three main areas:

• Configuration options

• Security options

• Monitor options

This section describes the panels in each of the areas.

NOTE   The panels are different if you are managing a clustered environment. For a quick reference to the SMC panels for a cluster, see Administering a server cluster.

Configuration options   

Configuration options consist of the following panels.

Panel	Description/Where to go for more information
General	General, server logging, and ORB/RMI settings.     For more information, see: General: Specifying general server properties. Logging: Using server logging. ORB/RMI: Specifying RMI settings.
Advanced	Debugging, performance, server cache, and Fulcrum full-text settings.     For more information, see: Debug: Low-level debugging. Performance: Setting performance parameters. Cache: Managing the server content cache. Full Text: Setting Fulcrum full text properties.
Databases	Configure how the server communicates with your database, including user name and password information, JDBC connectivity information, and the minimum and maximum number of database connections. You can also use this panel to synchronize database schema and delete idle connections.     For more information, see: Minimum and maximum number of connections: Managing database connections. All other properties: Configuring the database.
Mail	Set up e-mail accounts that work with SilverStream business objects triggered on mail receipt.     For more information, see Setting up mail on the server.
Connections	Manage client connection settings.     For more information, see Client connection parameters.
Licenses	Manage server licenses.     For more information, see Managing licenses.
EJB	Manage Enterprise JavaBeans that have been deployed on the server.     For more information, see Maintaining Enterprise JavaBeans.

Security options   

Security options consist of the following panels.

Panel	Description/Where to go for more information
Server Security	General security settings.     For more information, see: Require user authentication, Disable HTML directory listing, and Allow users to modify own account: Enabling authentication. Security resource timeout: Resetting the security resource timeout. Client certificate level in HTTPS: Enabling and installing client certificates. Default security realm and authority: Overriding defaults for login name components. DSA and RSA port properties: Enabling RSA/DSA ports.
Permissions	Control access to any SilverStream object. You can set up access control at the cluster, server, database, or individual object level.     For more information, see Setting up access control.
Users & Groups	Add Silver Security and certificate users. Add Silver Security groups. View users in external security providers. Edit user properties.     For more information, see: Adding Silver Security users and groups: Managing Silver Security users and groups. Adding certificate users: Manually installing client certificates. Viewing users and groups: Accessing users and groups Using external security providers: Accessing security provider systems. Certificates	View certificates that have been installed on the server. Security Providers	Configure SilverStream to recognize external security providers, including Windows NT directory services, LDAP, NISPlus, and certificate issuers.     For more information, see Accessing security provider systems.

Monitor options   

Monitor options consist of the following panels.
