3.4 Migrating to Novell iPrint

Depending on your current print system, you can upgrade to iPrint running on Linux by using one of the following methods:

3.4.1 Migrating iPrint from NetWare to OES

3.4.2 Migrating an Existing NDPS Print System to iPrint on OES

To migrate your existing NDPS print system serviced by NetWare to an OES server, complete the following tasks:

  1. Set up DNS for your existing system.

For more information, see Setting Up DNS for the Print Manager in the NW 6.5 SP8: iPrint Administration Guide.

  2. Upgrade your NDPS Print system to iPrint.

For more information, see Upgrading from NDPS to iPrint in the NW 6.5 SP8: iPrint Administration Guide.

  3. Distribute the iPrint Client.

For more information, see Windows: Distributing the iPrint Client in the NW 6.5 SP8: iPrint Administration Guide.

  4. Edit the UpgradeNDPSPrinters entry in iprint.ini.

By default, the iprint.ini file is located at: /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs/iprint.ini. In case of NSS volumes for Cluster environments, the file is located at: /media/nss/NSSVOL1/var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs/iprint.ini.

For more information, see Upgrading NDPS Printers to iPrint Printers in the NW 6.5 SP8: iPrint Administration Guide.

  5. Run the Server Consolidation Utility.

For more information, see Consolidating NDPS Printer Agents in the Novell Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit Administration Guide.

  6. Reconfigure DNS to point to the new server.
