Gadzoox Continues Leadership Role in Open, Centralized SAN Management; Industry Leading Capellix Switch Family to be Showcased at Novell's BrainShare 2000
Salt Lake City, Utah -- March 24, 2000-- Gadzoox Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZOOX), a global leader in SAN (storage area network) products, today announced that its Capellix 3000 modular SAN switch has become the first SAN switch in the industry to be awarded certification for Novell Directory Services (NDS.) Through NDS certification, Gadzoox continues its SAN industry leadership role by enabling the integration of SAN management into centralized enterprise frameworks. In addition to the proven robust and secure management capabilities of enterprise frameworks, the open environment of NDS further enable uniform management in businesses that depend on a mixture of mainstream operating environments such as NetWare, Solaris Windows and Linux. The demonstration of NDS for SANs along with high-availability, multi-node application clustering under NetWare Cluster Services will be showcased at Novell's BrainShare 2000 conference taking place next week in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As a new network environment that has quickly emerged over recent years, SANs have faced the challenge of delivering value as highly effective solutions for coping with the rapid growth in data while attempting to avoid the addition of a new management burden on enterprise information systems. By leading the industry in the adoption and integration of management standards such as simple network management protocol (SNMP) and directory enabled networks (DEN), Gadzoox is driving the centralization of SAN, LAN, WAN and e-business management. Open management services such as NDS, leverage the proven capabilities in security, monitoring and configuration and apply them to the SAN environment to streamline management and help accelerate the deployment of SANs.
Leveraging the advanced modular architecture of the Capellix family of SAN switches, Gadzoox has quickly developed and released embedded agents that enable the integration of SAN and enterprise management. Available for immediate download from the Gadzoox Web site, the newly released Ventana SANtools for NDS enables the auto-discovery and mapping of Gadzoox Capellix switches allowing a single point of administration using Novell ConsoleOne Java management. The development is based on Gadzoox open architecture and Novell's Directory Services framework allowing the integration of Ventana SANtools into Novell's ConsoleOne, extending the management of Gadzoox Capellix switches. Network administrators can now provide the same security, configuration management, monitoring and policy setting capabilities from client-server and e-business systems to their SAN.
