OBLIX LEVERAGES NOVELL NDS eDIRECTORY
- Novell partner will demonstrate The Oblix Secure User Management and Workforce Optimization Solutions during BrainShare 2000 Technology Lab -
CUPERTINO, Calif.March 23, 2000Oblix Inc., a leading developer of e-business infrastructure software, will showcase its award-winning Oblix E-Business Solutionä at Novells BrainShare 2000 Technology Lab in Salt Lake City next week. Oblix is one of the Novell partners sponsoring the annual event. Oblix provides powerful, scalable and secure business-to-business (B-to-B) infrastructure software that connects employees, customers and partners in the extended enterprise. The Oblix solution works with Novells NDS eDirectory and other LDAP-based (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) directories.
Oblix helps Novell customers leverage their investment in NDS eDirectory by offering comprehensive user profile and policy management across complex enterprises. The benefits enterprise customers realize include decreasing IT costs and time spent in managing users, enabling secure self-service of user information, providing data integrity within NDS eDirectory, and effectively scaling networks to millions of users.
In the BrainShare Technology Lab, Oblix will demonstrate its software solution working with Novells eDirectory platform. The Oblix E-Business Solution offers an easy way to change the user profile and policy information stored within NDS eDirectory. The user profile information, in turn, controls the corresponding rights, privileges and access control to Web-based applications. BrainShare attendees will view real-time changes to eDirectory information, applications and resources based on modifications to the user profile using the Oblix solution.
The Oblix E-Business Solution automates the publishing of accurate, real-time user information and resources from Novells NDS eDirectory directly to all user desktops via an easy to use Web browser interface. Many Global 1000 customers are using this capability to continually update and publish accurate phone lists, titles, organizational roles and other information so employees working in large, distributed organizations can work together effectively no matter where they are located.
"Our customers are asking for a way to manage the critical user information stored in their NDS eDirectory because this user information drives their e-business operations," said Dave Shirk, senior vice president of product management, Novell. "The Oblix solution provides our customers with user self-service and distributed management of user information that is at the heart of e-business."
Novell, a leading provider of Net services software, is currently distributing and supporting the Oblix E-Business Solution through its global sales network and worldwide channel programs. "Adding the Oblix directory-based user management application to our total solution package strengthens our position as the leading platform for the future of e-business by taking us one step closer to achieving a complete end-to-end solution for our customers," said Shirk.
"Oblixs customers are looking to build secure, manageable and scalable e-business environments," says Robert Drescher, Oblix vice-president of marketing. "Novells NDS eDirectory provides the platform necessary to manage user interaction and the flow of e-commerce. The Oblix solution then adds a powerful way to manage user profiles and policies, and helps customers benefit from their investment in directory services."
