STRATACACHE PRODUCTS GROUP DEBUTS STRATACACHE FLYER SERIES AT THE IRCACHE BAKE-OFF
Novell ICS -Based Flyer Caching Server Provides Fastest Cache Hit Response Speed at National Competition
Dayton, OH
, March 21 The Stratacache Products Group announced today that its Stratacache Flyer Series of caching appliances recently provided the fastest cache hit response rate (40 Msec) of the 22 entries that competed at the IRCache Bake-off. The Novell ICS-based Flyer Series beat entries from companies including Cisco, Lucent, Compaq, Dell and IBM, demonstrating a significantly faster ability to serve content stored in the Flyers local cache.
The Flyer F-100s lighting fast access to cached data, coupled with a sustained 400 request per second workload rate identify the Flyer Series as an attractive cost-to-performance leader in appliance-based caching solutions. Its power, speed, small size and ease of management at a competitively priced package make it an attractive caching solution for any network environment.
The IRCache Bake-off is a de-facto competition for testing Web performance caching to provide the Internet industry an independent metric for comparing competitive cache solutions.
Key features of the F-100 are a result of its incorporation of cutting-edge technology including the industrys leading Web cache software via Stratacaches alliance with Novell Inc. Novells Internet Caching System (ICS) technology is the high-performance software component that enables the Stratacache product family to take advantage of value-added services including multimedia streaming, Web content filtering and advanced cache clustering services.
"The Flyer F-100s superior performance within any network environment is a great example of a crucial component within Novell Net services software," said David Shirk, senior vice president of product management for Novell. "As the business world continues to evolve, the need for bleeding-edge caching performance will be a key factor in a companys ability to harness the potential of the Web."
Stratacache caching solutions dramatically improve speed and efficiency for delivering Internet content. Delivering unmatched throughput, scalability, and price/performance, Stratacache can support any network environment whether Linux, NetWare(R), Windows NT, Solaris or UNIX based.
Unlike many of the entrants at the Bake-off, the Stratacache Flyer Series box is a 1U rackmount product that is incredibly small in size, allowing users to easily mount up to 40 appliances in a standard data rack. In addition, basic cache configuration upon arrival has the box up and running in less than 15 minutes.
Additional features such as content filtering, reverse acceleration, Layer 4 switch integration, and the implementation of clustering capability and hierarchical caching require only a few minutes to configure.
Stratacache products can also be managed via Web browser or telnet sessions from across the room or around the globe.
The Stratacache Products Group provides a comprehensive offering of technical support, project integration and site service options to keep Stratacache caching solutions up and running in mission critical business environments.
"Hit response time indicates how long our customers must wait to retrieve cached content -- obviously the lower the better. In order to maximize value to our customers we constantly strive to provide them with the best and fastest caching solutions possible," said Chris Riegel, product manager for the Stratacache Products Group. "We are a company dedicated to setting new performance and feature standards for the caching solutions industry and ultimately enhancing the ways in which business environments can take advantage of the Internet."
Pricing for the Flyer F-100 is significantly less than the majority of the competition at $5,995. For more information about the Stratacache Products Group or the Stratacache Flyer Series, visit the company Web site at www.stratacache.com.
