Talarian and Novell Empowers NDS with Real Time Event Notification
Real Time Infrastructure Software Provider Offers First Public Demonstration of the SmartSockets and NDS Collaboration Integration at Brainshare

Talarian* Corporation and Novell Inc. (NASDQ: NOVL) today announced the first public display of their technology collaboration at with Novells at Novells BrainShare 2000 user annual developersconference, Brainshare. The demonstration will reveal the integration of Talarians SmartSockets real time infrastructure software into future versions of with Novell Directory Services, (NDS).NeVS The integration will provides real-time event notification of changes in an NDS directory, including the addition, deletion and modification of directory objects. These changes are reported instantly anywhere within an organization. Examples of real-time events include security violations, policy changes and the addition of new users. This new product has been requested by developers working on the NDS platform who require a means to subscribe and react to directory events.
"With SmartSockets, Novell has created a dynamic directory capable of reacting to changes instantly, making it easier for developers to write new real-time applications for the NDS platform," says Tom Laffey, Chief Technical Officer of Talarian.

In addition, Novell developers will be provided a programming interface to NeVS through the SmartSockets API and class libraries in order to accelerate the development of additional applications on the NDS platform. The SmartSockets-integration enabled NeVS is a focal point of Novells enhancement of NDS in 2000 and further positions Novell as a leader in directory services enabled networking arena.
