Eden Prairie, Minn. — Sept. 11, 2001 — - XIOtech Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seagate and a storage area network (SAN) pioneer, today announced that its MAGNITUDE hardware platform has received Novell's "YES, Tested, and Approved" certification for their new, open operating system, NetWare 6. Many of the new functions of NetWare 6 enhance features within the MAGNITUDE SAN, including advanced support for Novell Cluster Services and online file expansion.

The implementation of Novell Cluster Services on a MAGNITUDE SAN has been essential to NetWare customers seeking higher availability. With 2-node Novell Cluster Services, which is now included at no charge with NetWare 6, users can extend the high availability of their data on the SAN to their applications and servers, with clustered servers. The MAGNITUDE also allows users to expand virtual storage volumes on-the-fly, without disrupting users. In the past, NetWare users were not able to see and use expanded storage volumes until the server was quiesced. With NetWare 6, systems administrators will now be able to expand volumes without server downtime, thus giving NetWare 6 users greater data availability.
