New release of Centralis Contex links Citrix MetaFrame to Novell eDirectory & Microsoft Active Directory
Darby, Montana Dec. 3, 2001 Centralis, a Novell Solutions Partner and Premier-level member of the Citrix Business Alliance, today announced the launch of Centralis Contex for AD, a unique software utility which extends the functionality of Novell Account Management*. Centralis Contex for AD allows Novell and Citrix MetaFrame* administrators to link with Microsoft Active Directory* and Novell eDirectory*, and enables two-way synchronization of fields between the two directories.
"Centralis Contex for AD allows administrators to use a single management console to manage users across Windows* NT, Terminal Server, Citrix MetaFrame and Novell eDirectory," said Peter Wilkins, Technical Director at Centralis. "Contex supports making changes to multiple users in a single operation, making it much easier to deploy and manage an integrated solution which takes advantage of the best features of each environment."
Centralis Contex for AD extends the functionality of Novell Account Management for Windows* 2000 by allowing Novell administrators to set up and edit the user settings for Terminal Server, Citrix MetaFrame and RAS Dial-in. The software also adds support for the use of templates, allowing administrators to automatically set up key user fields and seamlessly assign users to Active Directory domains, containers and groups during user creation, all from within Novell's ConsoleOne* utility.
Martin Buckley, product manager for ZENworks* for Desktops at Novell, said, "Centralis software continues to add value to the core Novell product set. Contex for AD joins Centralis AXE as important components of the toolset Novell customers need to effectively manage their Citrix MetaFrame solutions."
James McNab, director of Strategic Alliances International at Citrix Systems, adds, "Our partnership with Centralis provides our customers with proven expertise in the integration of market-leading directory and application-server technologies. This brings the benefits of server-based computing to Novell environments, and offers our customers greater choice and flexibility in the implementation of directory-enabled solutions."
Centralis Toolset Offers Directory Integration
Centralis released its first Novell/Citrix integration software as an add-on to NDS for NT in June 2000, followed by a ZENworks utility, Centralis AXE. The previous release of Contex, an add-on to Novell Account Management, was launched at Novell's BrainShare US Conference in May 2001. Contex for AD brings the Centralis toolset up to the latest release from Novell and continues to extend the most comprehensive Citrix and Novell integration toolset currently on the market.
