SALT LAKE CITY (BrainShare® 2002) - March 18, 2002 - SAFLINK™ Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: SFLK), a leading developer, marketer, and integrator of biometric security solutions, today announced the release of SAFmodule™ 2.2 for Novell Modular Authentication Service (NMAS™), the latest version of its multi-biometric solution for NovellÒ eDirectory™ enterprise networks.

Featuring an innovative, patent-pending technology, SAFmodule 2.2 for NMAS allows biometric-protected logon sharing to occur within NMAS, Novell's security framework that supports Novell eDirectory. The technology, called User Authority Delegation (UAD), enables employees on a company network to share account privileges for specific work-related reasons, e.g., a senior executive who wishes a trusted assistant to enter and manage the executive's personal email account.

"While identity delegation may seem to run counter to the objectives of security protection, it's often necessary to expedite efficiency in the workplace," said Rhonda Johnson, SAFLINK Product Manager. "Finally, there is a solution that can support such special exceptions while maintaining the overall integrity of the company's user logon authentication policies."

UAD allows an administrator to delegate the logon rights of employees to authorized assistants or co-workers via SAFmodule 2.2's security control interface. The delegate then uses his or her own biometric ID to access the other person's account. To ensure accountability, all delegate logons are automatically audited and logged for later review by security administrators.

"SAFmodule 2.2 for NMAS offers a valuable tool in UAD, one that can have a significant impact on organizational productivity," said Richard Maddox, director of Novell's Access and Security solutions. "This unique and creative solution will enhance the practicality of biometric security control for enterprises of all sizes."

Strong Biometric Authentication
SAFmodule 2.2 for NMAS extends the power of biometric authentication by means of a set of features tailored to the needs of large, distributed organizations. The solution enables fast deployment to large groups of employees using automated distribution methods, and includes disconnected logon for mobile workers and telecommuters.

SAFmodule 2.2 for NMAS is integrated with Novell's scalable eDirectory and the NMAS security framework. Flexible enrollment options allow administrators to implement either a self-enrollment process for users, or an administrator-controlled central enrollment process.

To make training and employee knowledge transfer smooth and efficient, SAFmodule 2.2 offers a practice utility that lets users familiarize themselves with biometric enrollment and authentication through a self-paced tutorial. In addition, the software supports multiple biometrics through compliance with industry standards for interchange and interoperability of biometric technologies.

SAFmodule 2.2 for NMAS enables any of 17 unique biometric devices to be connected to corporate networks including fingerprint, iris, voice, and face recognition technologies. SAFLINK will also be demonstrating SAFmodule 2.2 at BrainShare 2002, Novell's annual user conference held this week in Salt Lake City.
